Ashley Ventrella

Protected skin from harmful radiation

2022 STEM Scholar
Delray Beach, FL American Heritage School

Ashley’s Big Idea:

Manny the Mallownaut has been training in Florida for his next space mission. Something odd has been happening to Manny: his skin is toasting! Ashley’s students came to the rescue. They determined what was needed to prevent the harmful effects of too much radiation on human and Mallownaut skin. After researching, planning, and testing, students created a launch capsule that protected Manny’s skin from the sun’s radiation.

Interesting Facts:

Ashley was previously a semi-finalist for the State of Louisiana’s Teacher of the Year Award.

In her own words: “I want to share my love of learning and science with this generation and develop their skills to be able to succeed in their career of choice.”
